IPOD TOUCH: First GBA Emulator
Yesterday (or today, it depends on where you read the blog from) ZodTTD has release the Worlds first Game Boy Advance Emulator for the iPhone and iTouch.
Some releasse info:
It requires a bit of installation.
- Unzip the gpSPhone.app directory to /Applications
- Change the "gpSPhone" file permission to 0755
- Place gba_bios.bin (GBA BIOS) in /Applications/gpSPhone.app/
- Place roms anywhere on iPhone / iTouch but preferabbly in the default file selection directory: /var/root/Media/ROMs/GBA
Today I have released gpSPhone .. ...This is a GBA emulator based on my port of gpSP to the GP2X. gpSP is a great GBA emulator written by the talented Exophase. I ported it to the GP2X, and added an (iPhone/iTouch compatible) dynarec. By using this coding technique, fullspeed performance of GBA is obtained on the iPhone/iTouch.
Things that still need work:
- Compatibility is lower than usual but many games are playable. This is being worked on as a high priority.
- Sound output is disabled, but it IS being emulated. So performance will only get better as this feature gets worked on.
- Auto frameskip might be off. Switch to manual frameskip if needed.
- GUI and instructions need a lot of work.
IPod Touch: PC-9801 Emulator

A japanese programmer has just started the porting of the PC98 emulator Neko Project II to the "just hacked" IPod Touch (The NEC PC-9801, or the PC-98, is a Japanese microcomputer manufactured by NEC. It is different from the IBM PC in many ways as it uses its own 16 bit C-Bus instead of the ISA bus. BIOS, I/O port addressing, memory management and graphics output are also different. PC98 first appeared in 1982 and many hentai games has been programmed for this platform). The japenese coder tested the game "Toshin city" from the legendary hentai game software house Alice Soft (アリスソフト: the game ruins but stops at the menu screen.
